sleeping with ADHD
me: can I please go to sleep? I’m tired.
my ADHD brain: Hi tired, I’m bored.

adhd culture is excelling at everything academically in elementary school but never being chosen for any awards or examples because you were a nightmare to have in class
SPD/ADHD problems
ADD/ADHD/SPD/Autistic peeps feel free to add more! it will be ok!
the truest ADHD ally of our time was my professor who during a field exam handed me a newt and told me to hold it and I was like “what do you want me to do with this” thinking it was for the test and he shrugged and said “it’s just to keep ya busy”
one time in math class the kid next to me basically said that ppl with adhd wouldnt be able to pass the class because theyre idiots. i didnt want to get involved so i just kinda shrunk into my seat.
my teacher immidiately went to the students desk, looked him dead in the eyes and said “i have adhd.”
he then proceeded to very shortly lecture about how people with adhd are not idiots, and students with it will still be able to succeed in his class.
Mentors with ADHD are the best, they get how your brain works and usually the two of you get up to the same type of shit so they’re great at showing you how to dig yourself out of it too
this is LITERALLY what having adhd feels like

ask box is open! i’m not a professional therapist, but with school kicking in for lots of people if you have any questions or just want to say what’s been helping you get through it, feel free to drop in!

the biggest thing to remember is that adhd is a disorder, and it’s not the kind of thing anyone would just choose to have, if that makes sense. i’m sure being a teenager with extra hormones isn’t helping, but unless you actively chose to start faking symptoms i think it’s pretty unlikely you’re faking it. i’m fairly certain you mentioned this was a school counselor, so my advice would be to find an actual, qualified therapist or psychiatrist if you can to talk about it and get a more informed opinion!

this can be really hard, especially since forgetfulness is a big part of adhd itself! the best advice i can give you is to just write your symptoms down as you notice them throughout the day (maybe including examples of situations you noticed them in?) you could write it down anywhere, but i find it easiest just to open up the notes app in my phone and jot it down before i forget, then review it later with the therapist. i hope this helps, and good luck with talking about it for the first time!
There is a difference between being lazy and not being able to do something and everyone needs to know it.
(Procrastination can also be unproductive things - Executive Dysfunction can be part of the other struggles)

What if I...got you into my hyperfixation....ahaha just kidding.....unless?
